About Options
Options of Linn County was formed in 1966 as a non-profit organization known as the Linn County Sheltered Workshop. It was created to provide opportunities for persons with disabilities to engage in the workforce, while continuing to develop their physical and social abilities.
In 1969, the Linn County Board of Supervisors assumed ownership and management of the organization. By 1979, Options of Linn County had grown to such an extent that a new facility was constructed at 1019 7th St. SE, comprising more than 50,000 square feet, and an entire city block.
Since then, Options of Linn County has provided services to dozens of area businesses. Most recently, the Options of Linn County facility was seriously impacted by the Flood of 2008. The organization is currently located at 3750 Williams Blvd. SW in Cedar Rapids (in the former Target west building between Stuff Etc. and Harbor Freight Tools).
